Story – From Brazil to Ibiza

A breath of fresh air

In the summer of '97, the two founder members of Urban Phunk Society met on a camp-site near St. Tropez (South of France). Spending the days waterskiing, reading Camus on the beach, plunging into Mediterranean nightlife, they soon discovered that their blend of solid musical skills with obscure electronics and heartfelt emotions could produce some truly beautiful musical results.

Influenced by '80s Pop roots, Latin Jazz, even House, Urban Phunk Society's wide-ranging style transcends musical cliches to produce its smooth and elegantly relaxing sound.

Ubiquitous sounds

Once in a while, the members of Urban Phunk Society contribute exclusive tracks to music compilations like Elegant Lounge, Fragrance de Ibiza and Brazil 5000 as well as to multimedia projects.

While beingplayed in heavy rotation on several online radio stations, they also create remixes for other acts who are drawn by the band's open-minded approach to music.

The technically versed and creative project has injected a breath of fresh air into the independent chill-out and downbeat music scene.
